The rules everyone agrees to

Short, because a rule nobody reads protects nobody. These are enforced by removal from the service, and the full version is in the community guidelines.

Adults only

Chatiw.cc is for people aged 18 and over. Accounts found to belong to minors are removed, and so is anyone who seeks out minors.

No harassment

Threats, slurs, and pressuring somebody who has said no all end access. "It was a joke" is not a defence anybody here accepts.

No non-consensual recording

Recording or screenshotting another person and sharing it elsewhere is a serious breach and is treated as one.

No solicitation or spam

Sending people to other platforms, selling, or running scripted messages at scale gets the account removed.

No illegal content

Anything illegal where you are or where the service operates is removed, and serious cases are reported.

If something goes wrong

Three things, in order. The first one takes a second and costs nothing; the second one is the only reason bans exist.

End it

One tap ends any conversation and moves you on. You never owe an explanation, and the other person is not told where you went.

Report it

The report control sits inside the conversation. It takes a second and it is read by a moderator — reporting is what makes a ban possible at all.

Block the pattern, not just the person

If somebody is running the same script on everybody, say so in the report. Repeat patterns are easier to act on than single incidents.

Four habits worth having

Keep identifying details out of it

Your full name, your workplace, your street, your school, your other handles. Not because anything will definitely happen, but because there is no reason to.

Never send money

No legitimate conversation on a chat site ends with a stranger needing a transfer. Not for a plane ticket, not for a sick relative, not for anything.

Be suspicious of being hurried elsewhere

Someone who wants to move to another app within two minutes is usually working, not talking. There is no rush here.

Assume anything you show can be captured

Not because it usually is, but because the decision to turn a camera on is easier to make with that assumption in place.

What the site knows about you

You are not asked for a name, an email or a profile to start a conversation, so the site does not have those. What it does keep is ordinary security data, including an IP address, briefly — because without it a ban on an abusive user would last until they reloaded the page.

What happens to someone who is reported?

A moderator reviews the report. Depending on what happened, the outcome ranges from a warning to removal from the service; serious cases involving minors or illegal content go further than that.
